In 1946, Henri Chevalier, stonemason and Compagnon du Tour de France, founded H. Chevalier in Suresnes, near Paris. Faithful to the Compagnon tradition, he surrounded himself with complementary skills to become a key player in the restoration of historic monuments and prestigious properties. Over the years, its teams of excellence have been called upon throughout the country, and increasingly in eastern France: Burgundy, Picardy, Champagne-Ardenne…
To support our customers’ projects as closely as possible, H. Chevalier created in 2022 Chevalier Est, a company dedicated to the Eastern region of France and its infinitely rich heritage.

STONEMASONRY AND FAÇADE RESTORATION

Faithful to the «stony» profession of Henri Chevalier, we have kept the stone cutting at the heart of Chevalier Est’ DNA. We not only restore facades, but also bell towers, perimeter walls, staircases, stoops and other stonework. Our intervention can be light, to change a few stones or to restore shine to a facade in good condition, but we can also completely recreate a new stone facade or bell tower from scratch. Cleaning, diagnosis, search for new stones, laying, joining and patina harmonization: at each stage, we work in absolute respect of the original building, driven by the desire to restore it to its former glory and pay tribute to exceptional historical know-how.

STRUCTURAL WORK AND MASONRY

Our expertise in structural work and masonry enables us to integrate modern comforts into heritage buildings, without damaging them visually or structurally. Structural work also enables us to consolidate the skeleton of your historic buildings, to better sustain them. Depending on the project, we can work on traditional or special foundations, or on slabs, beams, columns, concrete or composite floors, screeds, etc. Our in-house skills and network of specialists enable us to rise to any challenge, to give new life to your heritage, and enable it to stand the test of time.

REVIVE THE SINGULARITY OF AN ORNAMENTED WORK

SCULPTURE, RESTORATION AND CREATION

We work with the passionate sculptors and restorers of Atelier Chevalier, which is part of Ateliers De France Group. In synergy with our stonemasons’ teams, they work on renovation projects of facades or ornamental works: capitals, pediments, cornices, fireplaces or fire pots. We also restore statues in metal, marble or stone and make new sculpture. Depending on the project, we collaborate with artists or laboratories that allow us to respond precisely, creatively and technically, to all our clients’ requests.

Thanks to our experience and the diversity of our trades, we perfectly understand restoration sites’ needs. We therefore offer a complete and adapted support for the success of your construction site: site facilities, lifting equipment, temporary electricity, living quarters designed to accommodate site workers, logistics services, delivery management, handling, guarding, collective security…

ENHANCE CONCRETE NOBLENESS

HERITAGE CONCRETE RESTORATION

The oldest architectural concretes date back to the early 20th century. Long denigrated, this material is now part of our heritage. At Chevalier Est, we consider it and approach it as a noble material, just like stone or marble. For the restoration of concrete, we attach particular importance to the diagnostic phase. Realized in collaboration with our network of laboratories and design offices, it enables us to adapt our repairs precisely to the various pathologies observed. In particular, we work with mortars formulated to measure by our partner laboratories according to the characteristics of each site.
